Excerpt
How can you be right if you kill everyone who is wrong?
I admire Walter Gieseking.
I admire Richard Strauss.
Does the artist do enough for humanity to obviate his
fascism?
Can you fight ideas without ideas?
BUT
Is there ever a good without evil?
Can I detach myself from Stalingrad?
Can I rationalize Franco?
Could even the greatest symphony drown out the screams
of Jews?
Is not lack of formulation progress?
