A double bed designed by Gino Maggioni for Atelier di Varedo. Stained oak with hand-carved panels painted in red and green. Produced during the early 1920s, the design reflects the decorative language of twentieth-century Italian craftsmanship.
Broad oak planes are animated by carved spirals, waves, and foliate ornament inspired by Renaissance and Lombard woodworking traditions. The heft of the frame is balanced by the movement of the carving.
