


An 18th-century oak writing slant with a carved anthemion front, wrought iron hinges, and lock. The anthemion—a stylized honeysuckle motif originating in ancient Greek architecture—became an enduring decorative ornament in European design.
The slope lid opens to reveal a fitted interior with three drawers and concealed storage for letters, papers, and writing implements.
