The Ulm Stool, or Sgabillo, designed by Max Bill and Hans Gugelot for the Ulm School of Design and produced by Zanotta, circa 1960. Originally conceived in 1954 for student use, the stool distills seating to its essential elements.
A precise study in proportion and utility, the design functions as a stool, side table, bedside table, or bookshelf. The rounded dowel serves as both a structural brace and carrying handle.
